WHY WE CAME TO PECKHAM! Chantelle Hamilton heads up our Peckham kids Upcycle club and here’s her top tips for the area over the summer holidays with or without kids!

THE CHILLIE KIDS CLUB running throughout the summer in various locations but at The Green Community Centre in Nunhead !! Book via the website
PECKHAM PLEX
Well loved Peckham independent cinema. Not boujie. Bargain tickets - all 5.99. Much loved.

BOLD TENDENCIES
Bold tendencies at Franks - franks is a rooftop bar on top of an disused multi-storey carpark. Bold tendencies in the art project with installations such as the Derek Jarman garden, and a bright pink stairs case. A lot of the installs are pretty cool for kids to wander through &
Scoot around the while grown ups have an aperol spritz

PECKHAM CARBOOT
On brand for upcycling - much loved car boot- not your regular. Features in vogue etc. place to go trend spotting.

SKATE SCHOOL
Skate school in Copeland park- Peckham art/cool area around the bussey building (v cool grimy club/art studios/roof top bar/cinema). You could also lump in skate park in Peckham Rye park & the BMX track at Burgess park (Kai white silver Olympic winner trained there).

PECKHAM RYE
Peckham rye park. Has great 2x playgrounds, +adventure playground (cute sky being refurbished), skate park, outdoor gym, Bowles club (for cool people) where you can rider yard sale pizza to, Japanese garden, wildlife garden, wisteria, epic tree & hidden dens, rocket batting cages, children’s centre. Great tree climbing. Summer fete. Gala festival held there (not for kids). This year had the first ‘on the rye festival’ which is community interest free festival & was amazing.

FILM FESTIVAL
Peckham Rye & Nunhead free film festival. Amazing mix of independent & poplila films at various venues in the area including outside: there was a streaming in the much loved Nunhead cemetery, and there have been pedal powered films where you cycle to power in (bikes by a local family business).

More for grown ups but really loved & cute garden Center in a railway arch
NUNHEAD GARDEN CENTRE

NUMHEAD CEMETRY
Cemetery that is Nature reserve. Heart of Nunhead. Dog walker paradise. Coutryside in the city. Cemetery open day once a year in May v popular. Load of activities, music, bands, Morris dancers, funeral horse parades, wood turning. Old school fun! Great for climbing trees, exploring deep in the woods, scavenger hunt, getting muddy.

NO WASTE CLUB
